I am going to be taking a trip to alaska and I have narrowed it down to these two bags. It appears the vertex has a good way of carrying a tripod but i was wondering if anyone has used the streetwalker with a tripod. Both bags seem nice and should work as a carry on I will be taking a 40D 100-400, XTi 10-24, 70-200 and a 28-75 I may also take a 580EX flash which bag do you guys recomend for those of you who own these what are you likes and dislikes about each thank you guys for your input.

Are you going to use the bag primarily to transport your gear or to wear extensively to hike and work out of? I use both TT and LP backpacks and, IMO, the LP bags have better, more comfortable harness systems. The Vertex 200 construction is more "bomb-proof", with better protection than the HardDrive, but it consequently weighs more. If you want a heavier duty bag, go with the Vertex. If you prefer a lighter weight, more urban type bag, choose the HardDrive.

I'm also taking a trip (3 weeks) to Alaska next month and just got the Vertex 300. I had considered the 200 but went with the bigger version since I have a lot of gear plus will be doing a fair amount of hiking. I thought the bigger bag would come in handy for rain gear, food, etc. From what I've read either the 200 or 300 will fit in domestic overheads.

I used to have the 200 before decided to replace it with a roller. The 200 is a great bag. very comfortable and can hold alot more gear then you think. I've traveled to Aruba and Mexico with the bag.... I'm a small guy (5'4" 130lbs) and I didnt have a problem wearing the bag.

two things i dont like my harddrive,
1. it lacks small outside pocket and the two side pockets are useless to me. the workaround is carry it with thinktank belt and i can use the modulars with it
2. you cant put a lock with the laptop compartment zipper just like the main compartment.

other than that, it is a great backpack. it can carry all my equipment

let me know how it works out if it is comfortable enough to hike in or just to transport I will be hiking in Alaska so I want to make sure it will work as my local store does not carry the Vertex I am going to try the Think Tank on Friday and see what i think I have read a lot of good things and the price is more appealing so hopefully it works.
