Hi all,

Still getting to know the A70 and very new to photography but I think I got a couple of good shots today while out practicing. ;) It was overcast out today unfortunately....

See what you think - any advice or crits would be accepted and appreciated!

These are rather large so I will link to them so not to slow the thread down for the 56k-ers.

Take a shot, then think about what you're "seeing". For instance, #1 might be better as a verticle. #2 might be better if you were a bit closer. See what I mean? ;-)

einsteinsauntie - thank you! :)

PhotosGuy - Yes I think I do see what you are saying. Thank you for that advice! :)

I like the peaches shot.BUT........

Try cropping or taking the pic again with the 3 bunched peaches with the leaves to the top right of the shot and then the bottum right of the shot having the blured background,if you know what i mean ?.That IMO would look cool.

I'm not sure I'm following you... are you basically saying to lose the lone bottom left peach and center on the "bunch"? That would make sense to me, after the fact, as better compsosition....

Is that what you meant or were you trying to describe a different approach?

Thanks for the input I'm all ears! :)

Yes have the "MAIN" bunch (with the leaves) top left and have the rest of the shot the blured back ground (but not too much of the background to take your eye off the main subject)

I hope I'm understanding you correctly. How's this? Or... should the "subject" always be center?

Thanks for your help!

That one's better but I'd still crop off more from the left. (To the right of the brown spots) We're just trying to eliminate some distracting details.
Re: "Or... should the "subject" always be center?" No, mostly never.
Google "Rule of thirds" for more info & remember that rules may be broken if you have a reason to.

Ah... I see now. I did look up "rule of thirds" - that's very interesting. Thanks for the heads up on that... while searching for that phrase I found several sites that offer even more good info for the beginning photographer. :)

Rather than continue to work on this photo I will try to apply what I've learned to future shots.

Thanks so much for all the help!!
