View Full Version : WORLD WIDE PHOTO WEEK: Part 174 - T
joayne
20th of July 2009 (Mon), 10:54
Every week we select a new theme, and then go out and shoot that theme. This week the theme is "T". As always be as imaginative/creative as you like when interpreting the theme, creativity is what we're looking for!
Here are the rules:
1. Shots need to be taken between sunrise Monday and sunset the following Sunday. Because this activity is supposed to encourage us to get out and shoot, please don't post old shots from your archives. Snap shots and art are equally welcome -- just get out & shoot, and then share!
2. Post your shots at any time during the week.
3. Post a maximum of two shots if you're uploading them to POTN (i.e., attaching them). You can post more than two if you're linking to shots that are not hosted by POTN (i.e.,embedding them), but keep within POTN rules. Also keep within POTN rules about size. A copy of the size rules can be found here: IMAGE POSTING RULES (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=194511)
An index to previous weeks can be found here: POTN WORLDWIDE PHOTO DAY INDEX (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=170603)
That's it! Have fun!

I've just spent the last hour or so going through some of the previous weeks posts and I've really enjoyed the journey. It has got me thinking about 'T', so if nobody minds, can a forum newbie join in?

I put a piece of 11x17 paper behind the mug, on the kitchen island. Lighting is natural from the skylight and sliding glass door. ;) Shot with the 50mm 1.8

I just knew someone would do tea, but I didn't think about tee. Nicely done both.
Are you a golfer John? We have over three hundred courses out here, but it is too hot to play anytime after 9 am. :p

OK, my first effort at this:
Takeaways
http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd273/Sundowner_album/Takeaway01.jpg
I spent the day at a local holiday resort with my wife and daughter, we initially went there for other business but spent the afternoon wandering around the resort of Great Yarmouth. More takeaways:

It was an awful drizzly day for the hundreds of holidaymakers that are there but for us it was a welcome chance to get out and about.

By now, as I think you can tell, I'm really in the mood for this but I'm also scrapping the bottom of the barrel in terms of the 'T' theme but these 3 are what I call 'Tat', the rubbish that many resort shopkeepers sell to the tourists.

This last one is not about me having a dig at the poor man who recently passed away but his face was everywhere on just about anything that an image could be transfered onto, most of it total rubbish with no value but anything with his face on it seemed to be a higher price than just the ordinary superstars that end up on these sort of products.

Scotland is a beautiful country, as is Ireland, my wifes family live in Dublin. I love Aberdeen, or at least the parts I've seen of it but I'm afraid all I ever saw of Leeds was industrial estates so I'm not in any position to comment. I hate London but then I grew up fairly close to it and spent many weekends 'up town' as a teenager (didn't really like it much then either). I suppose it does have its good points but it's not my favourite place (sorry Londoners).

not a big fan of London myself. Last time I was there was for three nights, saw Phantom of the Opera and toured a bit since my wife had never been. Once was enough for me. ;)
There isn't much to Leeds. It's only redeeming quality is that it's near to Tadcaster which is where Samuel Smiths is at :p

I've just checked my podcast page, all seems fine now but it can play up at times, I'm on a free account there and they look after their paying customers first :-| It is a bit of fun though.
I spent over two hours on a local beach the other day trying to get a decent shot of an Arctic Tern and this was the best I got and even that is lowsy

Neither is w/the new lens. I wanted it for travel and now I'm considering NOT taking it with me. I am very disappointed with the 24-105 on my 5D. That is supposed to be the ideal combination. I'm sticking with my 24-70 I guess

Gosh, Joayne, I thought your new lens was a 400mm.
I didn't realize it was a 24-105.
The only reason I haven't sold my 24-105 is because I think I will eventually get a FF, so I'm saving it for that.
With that in mind, I'd be interested to know why you're disappointed with the 24-105 & 5D combination.
