I just got my new Lowepro Micro Trekker 200 in the mail from B&H Photo, so I took a bike ride to the local man made lake to take some pictures. I had a lot of fun shooting the local ducks and here are some that I liked (I have more if anyone cares to see them ;) ):

Jeeeeezzzzzzz!!!!!!! These are all absolutely fantastic! I LOVE the last one where all three are flying. Supurb job! Man, I've heard the 75-300mm IS goes soft at 300mm, and it's AF isn't good for action shooting, but wwooww, seems to be doing fine in your shots! Or maybe it's still a crappy lens and your just an incredibly talented photographer.:D Not to say you aren't already.;)

Very nice job. Colors are great as is the composition on them. Tough subjects to get in action and framed so well.

How come his 75-300 lens performance is so different from what i have seen so far. Is there a limited edition, or Millenium edition, that has only less than 100 copies out there? Perhaps a red-strip 75-300mm. ;)

Nice shots BTW!

Thanks everyone for the kind words!

I've found that the 75-300mm IS works much better at faster shutter speeds (when hand held). I used to only shoot at 100 or 200 ISO, but now I've been using 400 and 800 to get faster shutter speeds. I actually really enjoyed spending time watching and trying to capture the ducks in flight. I missed some shots because the lens was hunting for focus (which is the biggest downfall of the 75-300mm lenses) and I can't wait until I can afford the 100-400mm w/1.4 TC, hopefully before my vacation to Hawaii in August.

Here are asome more shots (all with the 75-300mm IS @ 300mm):

Haha! Love that last one!!! The way his head is tilted is kind of funny. Anyway, Higher ISO and faster shutter speeds work better for that lens?!?! Hmmmm, I was gonna get the 70-200mm f/4L lens... but now I'm swaying towards the 75-300mm IS after seeing these shots.... still has slow af though huh? :-( O well! Fantastic shots! Keep up the great work!

Hmmmmmm....... When i shoot birds, i use ISO200 or 400. Maybe I should try bump it up to 800, but i'm afraid of the noise level from 300D. Well, i'll give it a try.
Thanks for the tip Sydor. Looking forward for more pictures from u.

That lens sure work for you. You said your hoping to get the 100-400, but with that lens as a keeper and for about the same price try looking at the 400 prime. Great shots.

I was looking at the 100-400mm IS to replace the 75-300mm IS. The 400mm 2.8L IS is way too expensive and the 400mm 5.6L doesn't have IS and I don't have the steadiest hands. I really like to have IS on my lenses, especially at 400mm (560mm with the 1.4x TC). I think that the 100-400mm lens would be perfect for what I like to shoot.

Those are some great shots. The 75-300 will give some good shots if you keep the aperture around the F/10 mark and use some higher shutter speeds. I've also missed some good shots because of it hunting focus also. But for the money it seems to be a ok lens. Not great, but ok.
