View Full Version : Whining or righteous concern?

So I had a photoshoot for a TV production team, who are going to publish one shot on the front cover of a periodical. I am not going to get paid, but they promised me credit. Now, the guy who 'hired' me is a friend of mine. The production team loved the photo, but said they're going to give credit to both of us equally... I felt it was a bit unfair, considering I took it myself with my equipment and edited and re-edited (because of problems with the periodical's editor) for a total of 6 hours or so.
Should I just drop them an email about this, and could it be done without sounding like a total jerk?
I hate to do this, but I expected to be given due credit especially since I'm not going to get paid. Ah well...

If the guy that hired you is your friend, simply ask him to clear things up with the production team so that you are properly credited. If for some reason it doesn't work, I wouldn't sweat it too awful much.

You could look at it one of two ways...
1) Credit is pretty much worthless, so it doesn't matter anyway, or
2) Withdraw the photo. They're already getting it for free, why do they care who gets the credit?

I think you're right to question their reasons for the joint credit.
It's probably expecting too much for them to change their minds, but if only to register your annoyance I would certainly ask them why they think that the other person deserves a credit on the strength of zero input at any stage of the process.

Thanks for the comments guys. I have talked about it to my friend, who contacted them and we've got everything all sorted now. They're giving me sole credit to it. And besides, they're giving me and my friend a small advert on TV while the series is being run, which I think is good.
