View Full Version : NEW "WALKIN' AROUND" LENS...

I just received the 20-35mm USM and hood that I purchased last week.
I bought it used, for a nice fair price, and was pleased to find out that the condition of the lens was even better than the seller had described. This thing could pass for factory-fresh. Now, if someone has a few spare 77mm filters hangin' around...
I'll be headin' out here in a few to take some quick shots around town, and will post examples later on this evening or tomorrow.
I am one happy camper right now...

Well, here are some shots I took when I ran down to the grocery store. Granted, I may have taken a little detour, but I wanted to see how the lens would perform outside of my den:
All shots were taken at ISO 100.
This first one is from the hill behind the neighborhood where I live. This first shot is at 20mm, f/6.3, 1/100:

This second is the same scene, from the same spot, zoomed to 35mm. The only difference in EXIF is this is f/7.1:

This one is looking up the hill. 1/200 at f/8:

I converted this one to black and white, just for the Hell of it. 1/160 at f/8:

This is my van. 20mm, 1/30 at f/3.5:

This is the van, taken from the exact same spot, zoomed to 35mm. 1/20, f/4.5:

And finally, just goofin' around, I took this picture in the back room of the house. My wife was messing with framing some pictures that she has, and I caught her movement. This was at 20mm, handheld at 1/4, f/3.5:

All in all, I'm really pleased with this lens, and I think it was a pretty sweet buy...

Nice pics. New toys are always nice. You might want to blur out your vehicle's license plate though.

I've been saying for a while that I have to take some new pictures of them. Now, with the new lens, I guess I have a compelling reason to.
Maybe this weekend, after I work off the "honey-do" list...

Yeah, I guess I could've. Not too worried about it, though, aside from the fact that, on the close up, any California law enforcement folks who may be here will be able to tell that my registration's expired (which is getting taken care of this week).
Other than that, I'm not too freaked out about it...

No problem. We Californians tend to be laid back about these things anyway.;) Some of those shots look like the area were my father lives up in north county. Those 77mm filters can get expensive, I have a UV and a CPL for my 10-22mm and combined set me back nearly $200.

With the exception of the black and white shot, these are straight out of the camera...
