First time post, long time viewer. love the forum...
Thank you all for sharing your ideas. I am new and this form has really helped.
My first question.
I want a long tele zoom and I read all about the 100-400. I want to know if there is anything coming out new in that range or should I buy now?

I haven't heard of anything to replace it coming out.

As tim said, no rumors around about replacements to that lens.
And, with L lenses you are almost always safe to just go ahead and buy. They do a really good job of retaining the value if it comes to resale.

Thank You!
This is really great. I really take all the suggestions I get here to heart. I am new to photography and this really helps.
My first L lens was the 24-70mm and I think the next one will be the 100-400 or 70-200.
I was not to impressed about the 100-400 push pull. That is kind of what I was getting at. Will they/could they even change that?
Thanks All.

Push-pull's not a reason to avoid the 100-400. It's a great lens, and the one-touch works better than having separate focus and zoom rings, since you have continual manual focus as well as zoom without flipping your hand back and forth.

I really have learned to love the push pull for getting subjects in the view finder. I can start with the lens compacted and then zoom in for the shot.
