This has probably been covered before, but I've searched and can't fnd a specific answer, and I need to get this clarified quickly, so apologies if it's already been answered.

Is it possible to have a slave set on Manual, with a specific and constant output, fired by a master on ETTL? I"m thinking of setting up a couple of slaves in the corners of a hall, to light up the dark spots, on manual and constant power, and I want to fire them from an on-camera 580ex11 set on ETTL, so it will do what ETTL does and vary it's output according to the scene. I did a quick test and it seemed to work, but I'd like confirmation before I ruin the shoot in a couple of days!

Yes you can with a EX slave flashes, though you might have problem triggering them if they are too far apart.

When you talk about a problem triggering, do you mean the usual line of sight thing with Canon wireless?
