I have 5 Extreme III SDHC cards right now and looking to get a 50D which uses CF cards. Should I buy an adapter for the cards or sell them and buy some CF cards? Also, 4gb or 8gb?

I would sell and buy new, less failure points to deal with. Personally i never use more than a 4 gig card.. If there is a card failure.. much less loss involved.
You can also dump the idea of the 50D and get a 1Dmark3... You can use your SD cards on it :D

^ lol I wish I could afford such cameras. The 1D3 is way out of my budget right now...some day though. I was thinking of buying the 4gb ones as well but I thought Sandisk is pretty reliable.

You can get 4gb Ultra II cards for really cheap these days. It's not the fastest, but it will do the job.

That's true but the 4gb III is only about $11 after rebates so I think I should go with that. I'm wondering if I should get the 8gb though.

I've been using the 50D for a little over a month now with absolutely NO lag time shooting with Kingston 8GB CF cards. I just ordered 2 more last week from J&R for $20! (http://www.jr.com/kingston/pe/KGS_CF8GBS2/)
If I had experienced issues with my cards in the past, I'd encourage you to go ahead with the Extreme series, but having not I can't justify the extra cost.
