View Full Version : Fireworks - Round 2

Hey,

I have just returned from a holiday in Ibiza, whilst out there I managed to shoot a local firework display. My first attempt at firework photography was back in 2007 when I was very disappointed with the soft, out of focus and poorly timed photos I managed to capture, which was mainly down to my lack of knowledge.

Anyway, two years later, armed with lots more knowledge (mostly from this website, so thank you) and my trusty 17-40 and remote trigger in hand, I set up on the roof of my apartment. Shots were taken at F11, ISO 100 and at 17mm I used bulb setting and made each exposure according to the rockets being fired. I was right underneath the fireworks so a lot of my photos were unintentionally cropped off as I couldn’t go wide enough. After I checked the first few photos I locked the tripod and enjoyed the display with my family whilst using the trigger in my hand.

Any comments and constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for looking

Thanks to everyone for the kind comments, I’m really happy with them, when I do shoots I normally only get one or two that I’m happy with, so I’m chuffed I’ve managed to capture a series of a good standard :D

I am blown away! Can you share some settings and some trick regarding positioning? Hey I’m glad you like them, to be honest a lot of what I did is outlined above and in this post from another user, he has outlined some really good tips when shooting fireworks.

I'm thinkin' Fireworks calendar! Lol good idea, I do have another 2 shots I could use, which I could post up, would still be two short for the 12 months tho haha:-P

Haha! Yeah they do look very similar in execution; I think the 17-40 improved my shots big time since my first attempt, it’s just so damn sharp! Congrats on your shots you must be happy with them!
