Canon S50 memory cards

I currently use a couple of 256MB memory cards but am starting to think this is not enough for my needs. I've been looking to buy maybe a 512MB card or even a 1GB card but the websites I've seen selling these (7dayshop for instance) all say that some cameras don't accept such large capacity cards. I've checked the S50 manual but don't see anything telling me I can or can't use these larger capacity cards.

Basically does anyone use a 1GB card with their S50 or know whether it won't accept these higher capacity cards?
