I'm looking at getting a case to hold my 300 2.8L 70-200 two 1D mark II's and various accessories. Whats a good relatively inexpensive bag to get?

You can't always get "good" and have it be "relatively inexpensive". Considering the fact that you have somewhere North of $10,000 worth of gear to cart around, do you really want to get cheap and save a hundred dollars or so?

I have had a Think Tank Airport Security for 4 years, and have dragged all my gear in it up and down countless stairs; through rain and snow storms; through puddles large and small; on and off many, many flights (including plopping it into the overhead compartments or even GASP gate checking it when the aircraft was too small to allow it to fit in the overhead); and it is still in very good condition. It holds: 2 bodies; a 400 f/2.8 (or a 300); a 24-70 f/2.8; a 70-200 f/2.8; 2 flash heads; a light meter; extra batteries; my 12" PowerBook and power cord; a collapsible white balance card; battery charger for my MkIIn; my liability insurance policy; a ton of other misc stuff in the pockets like extra CF cards, pens, paper, card readers, etc.

Plus the customer service of Doug and the rest of the Think Tank crew is second to none.

Do yourself a favor - don't go cheap on this - you'll regret it.

Thanks. I'll look into the Airport Security bag.

For location use I use

High Performance Resin wheeled Cases with the padded divided kit panels and combination removeable interior (PorterBrace) cases

Here is the link to one of the smaller wheeled cases

http://hprc-usa.com/2550w.htm

link to the main site - IMHO it's a little hard to navigate to the cases

I like to be able to notice my gear across from the room / field

They used to sell direct thru e-bay and many great deals were avail - I'm not sure they still sell on e-bay, do some homework and you'll find a deal.

I will second Dennis on the Airport Security, been using it for the last couple of years, I actually tried a few of the pelican cases at my local dealer and those were a bit on the bulky side, the TT AS just seems to hug all the equipment inside it and very secure.

I use pelican as well. But I dont travel outside the area. If I did I would look into an Airport as well.

I use the Peli 1560 for pretty much all my gear...

3x Bodies, 300L, 70-200, Speedlite, 24-105, 18-55, Extenders...and I'd get more in if i used the padded divider rather than the pick-n-pluck foam.

When I get the 400L that's what I plan to do! Or get out the gaffa and re-configure the inside to fit everything!

The only downside is that IF you're travelling you'll need to check in the case as its too big for "carry-on"...and that has its own risks.

I know a couple of pro's who've lost EVERYTHING as some unscrupulous baggage handlers in certain countries target Peli cases as they know they contain expensive gear!

Something to think about people.

I've owned Pelican Cases and have sold them, they're nice but won't hold nearly as much as the TT Rollers. I now use a TT Airport Security and it's BY FAR the best bag I've owned. Any of the TT rollers will hold your gear.
