Great work and awesome pans, I don't know why some great threads like this one sometimes get no reply's, even with great photo's.
#2 with the water reflection is a great catch, did you get that on the first try or did it take a few laps?

well that was my only try with that car but I took a bunch of shots in that corner cause it was working so well, thanks for the comment

I've made it every year for the past 4 years with the exception of this one (man was I not happy). Number one and two are my absolute favorites...well done. What were you shooting with and shutter speed for those? Nice job...

Canon 40D, exif is intact but both were 1/40th hand held no IS

very nice set, with 1,2 & 5 being standouts to me, especially #5, I like the presence of more than one car, and the motion of the 2 chase cars, and the GT being tack sharp, nicely done.

great pans - I am slowly trying to work down to speeds that slow on the pans. How long was your lens? I was shooting at 1/80th at roughly 150-250mm with IS hand held this weekend...saw some success, but I couldn't really get down to 1/40th with the same level of sharpness as yours.

well it takes practice thats for sure- I deleted alot of shots at that shutter speed

thats the wonderful thing about digital...if it was no good, oh well, not a big deal. I think it is a fun challenge to shoot that low shutter speed, when you get it right, the results can be very nice, and unique.

Agreed - I am also a fan of your loose shots. I have a habit of framing my pans really tight, I want to start practicing some loose shots like that to get more of the surrounding area (if it's not ugly that is). Thanks for the inspiration

How do you handle the autofocus with a shot like that?

I really like how you played with the reflection in this picture (http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m50/comporangesvt2003/Lime%20Rock%202009/zIMG_0681copysm.jpg).

the reflection was lucky, we had hard rain the night before and there was still standing water around. that wouldnt normally be there.

I tried the reflection shot this weekend with my brother's formula ford, but the cars were too damn low to make it work! haha doh. I would have tried it on the GT cars but I was a bit busy with his formula ford....

the lower the angle the more car will be in the reflection- I found the lowest point on the fence and tried it there, and that is what worked for me.

Yea I was against the fence - I wish I had time to stick around and try it on the bigger cars. C'est la vie
I tried some of the looser shots, but the background in the left hander is just too green! haha - I'm gonna have to try the front straight into big bend next time I'm up there.

Second shot in the first series is the winner for me, nice pan and I really like the reflection in the water.
