I will be going to Crater Lake in about a month. My lovely sister was kind enough to give me a lakeside room at the lodge for two evenings as a christmas gift.

I know I will be facing due east and that will be great for the early morning twilight. Any suggestions as to good shooting locations from the north and south side to catch the early morning and late afternoon side light? What are the "must have" shot locations and the best time to shoot them?

Thanks for your suggestions!

You simply have to drive around the rim trail getting shots from every stop. The "must have" shots include Phantom Ship and Wizard Island. If possible, hike down and ride the boat to Wizard Island. A side trip to see the pinnacles is also good, and there's a waterfall along one of the roads into the park. I think the lobby/sitting area in the lodge makes a nice shot. Enjoy it, for it is one of the most scenic and peaceful places I know.
