Im big mouth because Im too far for you to kick me on the bum. What persentige of a big post count consists of talking nonsence? Just asking, so I can see if my 90 % is in line with the pro's

90% is a good starting point...but if you need a straight answer...you can get that too.:)

I just discovered that the 33v is my 7NE
It is realatively inexpensive to digital, a third the price of my 350D although I think it is a better build? I want to use it mainly for long exposures.

I have used mine for long exposures....works very well. I have the battery grip on mine...it is a bit cheesy...but overall the build seems pretty decent. I've burned a lot of rolls of film thru it over the years and have been very satisfied with the results...the metering system works very well and the camera has a nice feel to it.

I have to run off to a meeting...If you have any specific questions on the 33v...just shoot me a private message and I will get back to you with an answer. Or if you want to build up your post count...put your question here and I will answer you when I get back...provided one of the others doesn't have the answer already.

Hey PG, feeling better?
yep....I'm going to listen to the general advice and just have fun again. (a little sleep helps a great deal) I'll probably still go and photo birds, but not exclusively like I've been doing. Around here, it's a very dull winter. Rarely is there snow, and no evergreens to speak of.....so grayness & sticks don't make for interesting shots...
Wool's point about forgetting the expectations is quite good. I was shocked when I couldn't easily come back with a bird in flight shot that seemed so simple...and then I was bound and determined to make it happen.....(I was the kid that played with the rubik's cube UNTIL I solved it :)). Guess you could say that I don't take defeat well...   So, I'm re-thinking, as advised.

As the Buddha said: comparison kills. Expectation is another form of comparison and kills engagement with life. Expectation is simply your fantasy in advance of the reality of the moment and when reality fails to meet fantasy then life loses lustre. Drop it. We can all be happier by so doing :-)

will we have to do an analysis of the incidence and prevalence of "odd" in the brick population of a midsized NC urbanized area? Looks like there might be something going on.
Bricks sure have pretty colors. and no two are the same

I am of the mindset that these bricks were probably hand cast. Some appear to be hard as rock...others are literally turning to powder. There is no uniformity to the size or texture. They do offer an interesting spectrum of colors.

darn- it seems I had a real good time- I know how good I can be when I'm bad. Just wish I could recall.
But, then again, I'm still waiting for womanhood, so I must not have been all that misbehaved.
What the hell does shooting a duck have to do with the price of beer in Pakistan? ???

pssst- permie-- PM me and tell me what I did that was so bad. It can't just be the lampshade and needing to get back.

dayaam...... that is a nice haul. Had all the middle three. Why the duplication of 24-70 and 24-105? Just curious. "Just 'cuz" is fine with me too.. (since when did we do anything logical anyway)
I'm viewing them in reverse order...so here's a few of the sunset from wonderland today :) (animals to follow in a bit)
sunset
more sunset
nightfall illumination
the moooooon
btw guys, it really was a great day...thanks for all the advice because IMO, it paid off ;)
Nice sunset, leaves and moon...
Hey, I got owned* by the birds today.. despite not parking near trees on a site visit, the car got dive bombed.. the splatter pattern is kinda like what happens if you throw an egg forwards rather than dropping it straight down so yeah, it was definitely an air raid. :p
(for those unfamiliar with the vernacular: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=owned)
and the animals...these are just quick edits (I took almost 300 shots...to show you guys the "day"). The photos aren't super saturated...it was an overcast day (that made for a great sunset) :)
birds in FLIGHT!
all the dark things all over the ground are geese, thousands of them...

You have been reading the Luminous Landscape thing I told you about, no? On Michael Reichmann's bird shooting technique.. well either way you did as he said.... :)

Cool... I find that I have never needed 2.8 on the ultrawide end because most of my UW work is done at f/8 for landscapes. If the light falls, out comes the tripod - practically the ONLY time you will see me with a tripod.
I caught myself looking at a Sigma 24-70/2.8 today.. I feel ill..
(should be looking at the HoLy L but fear the price tag will make me feel even MORE ill ;) )

This is the equivalent of the 70-200/2.8 zoom in its business.. actually it is more like a 24-200/2.8 IS USM L.
Very useful when you need to rig gear in pitch black conditions (ISO 400, f/4, 30 seconds, when I really should have been one or two stops brighter)
