I noticed... ;)
I have an amusing conundrum.... I have an opportunity to go to the Getty Villa in Malibu next week. Trouble is, it's in Malibu, and we're a little over 100 miles away. Our group has to meet there around 9:30am. Do we drive up the night before and stay in a motel (thus avoiding a drive across all of LA during morning rush hour), or just tough it out and leave around 6am? Hmm... Oh, and no one in our house is a morning person...
Woolburr
15th of March 2007 (Thu), 01:35
Road Trip!!! Sounds like a night in a motel is a must.
JSolie
15th of March 2007 (Thu), 01:53
It might just be worth it, not having to deal with that long of a drive early in the morning (before the coffee fully kicks in...) Plus if we go up the day before, I might be able to squeeze in some ocean sunset pics... Hmm....
And I'm wondering if I should push the envelope and take a monopod. The Getty Villa has a "No Tripod" policy. But a monopod isn't a tripod... I could probably use that f/1.2L lens to great effect there...
Woolburr
15th of March 2007 (Thu), 02:12
Sunsets on the ocean and a chance to properly exercise f/1.2....sounds like a plan in the works...the other drawback to that early morning commute is not knowing what might occur with traffic.
JSolie
15th of March 2007 (Thu), 02:16

Air mattress!
That's one thing I don't have. Methinks I'm gonna have to take a trip to WalMart and see what I can find...

It's getting too late for me, so I'm gonna go get some sleep. I've got a couple of other things to figure out before our Getty Villa trip--like to bring a monopod or not... G'nite.

Plus I found a motel that's in the same parking lot as an IHOP...I think something's starting to come together. I just gotta figure out how to squeeze 5 people in a 4 person room...
Will they place a rollaway?. Air mattresses do work great though.
I miss IHOP.

Did your doc ever get you fixed up?
I keep trying to get some sleep but the coughing is not helping the insomnia. :)

Gulp. Just had my technical interview. Over the phone in my office with my team and middle management lurking around.
I think I did ok, we managed to have a pretty nice chat and I think he got the message that I know what I'm talking about.
Sitting here with nervous sweaty armpits waiting for a response now....

Good luck. Last I had an interview I already got the impression during the interview that I would get the job but it was still a long wait until I got the official answer.

I have a feeling that they want me fairly soon, which is good as I might be able to negotiate a decent package. Here's hoping!

I am really close to putting my 1 D MK IIN up for sale in order to buy the Mark III. There are so many new features in the new one I like. For example the dust remover that will certainly come in handy in Africa to avoid too much dust setting on the sensor. That feature is pretty cool. Not only will it shake of dust but it is also possible to record information about where remaining dust is and then the software can correct that automatically. And the better ISO, and better battery performance, and lighter battery, and and and and.....
I have already put my 20D up for sale, the BG-E2 grip is sold and I my 28 mm f/1.8 is also for sale. If I get all that sold incl the mk ii n at a decent price I won't need much more for the mark III. Canon Denmark say end april for delivery time.

Tom, I am putting my 70-200 f4 for sale this spring to fund my 70-200 2.8 IS, which I need more. Several people here in VA are interested, but I've also considered saving for the new Mk III. If I decide to stop teaching, I'll want to start shooting some sports around here. I'm waiting to see how people like the new camera before really considering it. Buying the 5D has pretty much stopped my big spending for a while.
Hi, Maureen. Hope you are done for the week and ready to spend some time here and with Aaron.

Hehe I am right now discussion getting on a waiting list as #2 if I pay a deposit (the store have many on waiting list that have not paid deposit but those that pay deposit will get it first  ). And I posted a for sale ad locally. I hope I can get the price I am asking for.

How much deposit are you talking about? And what is the expected pick up date, because B&H has the date as "arriving in May" on their website.

Go to bed Scott...so we can talk sex and other fun stuff.
OH dang it! I want to be around for all of that too!
Aaron wore a similar costume for Halloween last Oct. And he hates dressing up. Thanks for sharing that...it is soooo cute. BTW, Thomas has been around for over 60 years!
My Mom made that for me from scratch - back then they really didn't have stuff like that in the stores - so she was creative back then and made one.

Morning all
It's another lovely but still cold day here....BUT THE COLORS OF SPRING are happening and that cheers me up immensely!
Tommy, I think you SHOULD go for the MKIII. It doesn't sound like you'll be losing too much to get it! And I can't wait to hear a first hand report on it ;)
Claire, and how was Dolly?
Pete, I'm glad you got the last interview over with :) Hopefully they won't take too long to call you!

I put up an ad but so far I have only been offered half of what the new mark III will cost. I hope I can get a little more than that. Oh well thats life when dealing with electronics.

15th of March 2007 (Thu), 12:54
Wow, it shouldn't be that low  they still sell new here for only about $700 less than what the new MKIII is rumored to cost. You should get at least 2/3 the price, I would think, of the new (at minimum)...
