Hey Sari!! Loved your tree. It helped me to decide to put one up this year. May have to be tiny and up on something just to keep the wildcats out of it, But Bean and the gang need to have a tree of some kind.

None of mine have ever seen a christmas tree so it is going to be a challenge. My littlest cat is 4 lbs. They are all 5 years old but she stayed klittenish. The other two are 15 and 19 lbs. A tree is not going to last long, Ifear.

yes, that is from my script as well!

The smaller of the two kittens is probably around 6 to 8 pounds, but the Maine Coon is in the 12-15 pound range. He's exceptionally large for a seven month old kitten, to say the least. The little one loves to climb, so I have no doubt that she'll be living at the top of the tree most of the time. Teddy will probably just take a flying leap and knock it over. I swear that cat thinks he's a dog!

Yeah, there's a few more. To be honest, I snuck out while Lisa was still sleeping. I got out there, and it was such a great environment, I started to feel guilty cuz she wasn't there, so I didn't stay long; subsequently, I didn't get a lot more shots. I like shooting more when she's around. I was going to covert the others to b/w. I'll post more when I figure out how to do that again....

I was sick of dealing with machines that wouldn't pick up a feather and yet required you to be a mechanical engineer with hours of spare time...just to empty the collection canister. This requires 3 pushes of a button to empty it of dirt. 1 turns off the machine, 2 releases the canister and 3 opens the canister bottom...allowing the dirt to fall into your waste container. Snap the now empty canister back on the machine and away you go...quick, simple and no need to have to perform acrobatics to accomplish the task. I think this thing is worth every penny.

I wasn't too sure about going at first either... but I love history, and there's so much there to be gleaned. By looking at the headstones and the various dates you can see wars come and go, when epidemics hit, the lives of some of the pioneers that came out West. It's creepy, but I find it fascinating at the same time.

liza
8th of December 2006 (Fri), 13:14
I love cemetaries, too. I used to "haunt" them when I was a kid. And, yes, you can just about determine when there were epidemics and wars just by looking at the stones as a whole. We have some really old graves around here with fascinating stones.

It's weird, but when our son died, it was really the first time I went around and read other headstones...and saw we weren't the "only ones" who ever faced that. I mean, your mind knows it but your heart doesn't. Somehow that seemed a bit soothing to me...as in, this is how life is and people much older than I was, have coped for generation after generation...now I see cemetaries differently than I used to.

I guess I do too...I wasn't trying to depress anyone...either, so sorry about that if I did. Just say why I think about them much differently than I used to.

Once several years ago we found a pioneer cemetery...just kind of lost in the shrub...stumbled upon it in fact. That's one I'd like to go back and photograph!

I just liked the way they used to chronicle a "passing". "Done to death by a hammer" or something like that...and who/what the person really was. It was very interesting. Perhaps because it's so far removed...in comparison to today.

I like the older ones, too. The ones with those big monuments and stuff. These new ones with the markers that are flush with the lawn so as to ease mowing, those depress me.

...quick, simple and no need to have to perform acrobatics to accomplish the task. I think this thing is worth every penny.
sounds like a great machine. AND you get to save the acrobatics. cool

I do not find them sad. Nice ones are lovely and peaceful. There are many parts of the US that followed the trend at turn of century where the cemetaries were used as park land and people went for picnics and such. why some old ones are so well landscaped. SOme of the artowkr there is phenomenal too

I just liked the way they used to chronicle a "passing". "Done to death by a hammer" or something like that...and who/what the person really was. It was very interesting. Perhaps because it's so far removed...in comparison to today.

I absolutely do not want to see "Done to death by Canon 100-400 and birds of prey"..

Imagine what future generations would think.. "Huh? How the heck?"

So what's everyone up to today? I read that Liza is off, to get Wyatt's cast removed...I want to go to the coast for the weekend but it's raining so no photographs...so why go?

I think we'll do some clean up around here and put out Christmas decorations.

I am taking cover. Let's run a quick look at environmental conditions today - 99F outside (no $#@)ing kidding), major forest fire in the area has blanketed the entire city with this impenetrable fog of smoke, it smells like smoke, I got the headache from H.. yesterday, and no amount of circular polarizers, "Haze" filters (ha ha..) or anything short of infrared would help me. Actually infrared sounds good but I don't have a 77mm IR. I gave up my 67mm IR long years ago.

Yeah having those two around would be cool.. they are the life of the party ;)

If it helps any, you are not alone.. it reminds me of a funny story when I was talking to someone else who obviously hadn't seen their share of the world.. she asked me "So.. you have your own place?" "Yup." (and enjoy it too - I can put five liters (1.5 gal approx) of beer in the fridge with nobody to complain)

"So you clean it yourself?" "Yup." (thinking: then?)

"And you cook?" "Yup."

"Ohh.. you must be mommy's boy I see"

It's impossible to fathom what some of these people are thinking at times. :)

I'm of the firm opinion that there are a vast number of people that just do not think at all. That when they speak, their brains are completely disengaged. That if they put a moment's thought into the words that came from their mouths, they would instead reamain silent. There are times that I've told people, after they said something totally inane, "I'll give you a few minutes to think about what you just said, and to retract it, before I answer...."
