I started watching Friends only after it went off the air and into reruns. I saw part of an episode and was hooked...I am still baffled as to why any female, much less a babe like Rachael would even talk to a homely, boring and pitiful excuse for a man like Ross. Ross strikes me as the type that would get beat up at the opera.

Hey, Oregonians!!
There's the seed of an idea rattling around in the void that's better known as my brain cavity.
Background:
A group of POTNers are planning a get-together in late August near the Central California Coast. Lois and I are hoping to attend, but thought it might be fun to combine that with a trip farther north, like to Canada for a little tourism, a visit to my brother and his wife in Washington, and a side trip to Oregon to visit the Oregon RRTP crew.
A couple questions....
How close are you to each other? Would it be feasible to find a neutral place where we could all get together for dinner or something? Are there any Marriott properties in the area? (i.e. J.W. Marriott, Courtyard, Residence Inn, etc)
Will we have to wear plaid/flannel?
Will we be able to communicate without an interpreter?
Feel free to respond here or by PM. Try to use one-syllable words. Don’t forget who you’re talking to.
I would be interested, You have been filled in on the rest of the info.. but yes.. plaid or flannel is required :-D

I grew up with all kinds of weird pets (My dad brought them home). Once he brought home a giant Iguana that someone at work gave him.....I bet it was 4 feet long! When it died, my dad put it in the trash can, the old kind with the lift off lid, and we all watched from the living room window. When that trash man lifted the lid, he let out an ear piercing scream I still remember to this day and I never saw my dad laugh so hard.

A friend had a 4 foot boa die. In a fit of mischievousness we walked across the street and put it near the restroom of the 24hr steak and egg joint. We sat at the counter near 4 homeless men and ordered some food. One of the guys goes to use the rest room and we hear a squeal. He hustles back in the room as my friend is headed for the door. Having a change of heart he grabbed the snake on the way out and tossed it in a dumpster. Well the homeless guy summons all his buddies describing the snake and how high he jumped. While some looked about peeking behind stuff the other went on about how the guy was full of crap and did not see a snake. I have never laughed so hard. oh, excuse me, ahh hem..moo.

Here's what Lisa told me:
Go to the Develop mode in Lightroom.
Put the "Fill Light" and the "Recovery" sliders all the way to the right, or at 100%. This will make the images look very funky indeed. Very flat and weird.
With the "Black" slider, start to move it around... maybe to around 50%... whatever looks good. This will start to create that HDR wannabe look.
I tweaked some other stuff, too. I made the WB a bit cooler, and I made that Tone Curves line thingy a bit more "S" shaped.
That's it.
Oooh. Nice tutorial....

Morning, everyone! Finally back at home and reading up.
Seeing that flower, I have this 11 foot thing growing in my yard, we thought was a sunflower, but now, looks like the beanstalk from the fairy tale. I'll shoot it later and see if anyone can identify it. It grows like crazy and comes back every summer.
Wedding plans are going well. Had a try run on a party last night. Seems like food doesn't get eaten too fast in the summer, everyone is too hot. But planning my son's wedding when he lives 2000 miles away and I have no clue what I'm doing is making me crazy.

My husband has a wonderful MIL...he likes her, likes to travel with her...she's very nice. I however have a MIL who's never liked me (I rather expect she thinks, and is probably right, that no one is good enough for her boy) so I work like a dog to make her happy while she's here...and the only nice thing she's said recently is that she liked the new mattress in the guest room....and yet, I still work like a dog...because right now I know her complaints are just complaints but if my house was gross and I didn't feed her well, there'd be substance to them and I just hate it when someone has a VALID accusation against me.

Thanks, and you give me way to much credit. I just wished I could get some BIF as wll as you. Good luck with the MIL ;)

We are off for a swim before I have to get ready for work.

Just stopping by to release some frustration for a second.
I am looking for a Network Attached Storage drive and I have been reading reviews about this one that I might get.
WHY do people feel it is necessary to complain about a product, when their complaint isn't the fault of the product?!?!
There were a few different (more geek related examples) but the most common one was.. well it is slow to access and transfer data over my WiFi network at my house... *sigh*... Of course, WiFi is lots slower than a wired connection! That isn't the Disk's fault!
I guess it isn't a big deal because I read through them and realize that it doesn't matter, but I wonder how many people are turned off of products because of reviews like this. Especially when the complaint is something that sounds more serious than it is (because there is an option to change it and the reviewer didn't understand.
Ugh. Off to work. I need to complain less about futile things.
Carry on.

Just like here on the forum...people find it much easier to blame problems on the equipment than user error. Take a look at some of the threads here...."Hi, I just bought a new 1Dmk3. I don't have time to read the manual. I feel like I got ripped off because I haven't taken the world's greatest picture in the 5 minutes that I have owned the camera. Are you feeling my pain? It is just for a secondary backup for my pictures and for our farm's accounts computers. I decided I really don't need a full on server and a NAS fit the bill to do nightly backups of the accounts computers etc.
I already have an external HD, but want extra protection.

So I want to get some UV filters before we had to the beach this weekend... But I don't want to get one for every lens... So, I am thinking only for the 17-50 and for the 70-200/400 (same filter size) --- that leaves out the 85mm and the macro and the nifty - but I doubt I will use those too much on the beach...
Any thoughts?

These were just off the top of my head...anyway, clearly (in my mind) she came upon me on the beach, begged for my phone number, I refused her advances and thus she left, dejected and rejected. Walking down the beach.
The second one is a reference to a George Castanza break-up line. When you break up with someone, you tell them, "It's not you, it's me."
Anyway, forget the titles....hope you enjoy the photos.
