I must admit, I really can't believe how much you lot talk about such a simple animal. All it's good for is eating and drinking the milk.

I'll tell you guys a little story:
Today, Lisa and I went out to the Wildlife Refuge to try and get some shots before the next wave of rain hit the area. Up on a hill, where we were shooting, there was this old oak, and up in its branches was a bunch of missletoe. So I wandered over to the tree, did my best "come-over-here" look so as to get a smooch.
She looked at me, and said, "Oh, cute!" then took my picture.
"No," I said. "Look, missletoe" (hint, hint)
"Oh!" then she snapped a shot of the missletoe.
"No," I said, slightly frustrated. "I'm under the missletoe. That means you come over here and kiss me."
"Oh. OK." Then she made her way over to me.
Just as she got close, she uttered those three little magic words, "LOOK! A BIRD!!" Then she wandered off to shoot the wayward bird, leaving me kissless.
Tell me again why I chose this hobby??
You enjoy the abuse, same as all of us. :p
If I fart, or she farts, the outcome is the same.....she's dead.
We were hoping for a celebrity deathmatch.. Belmondo the Fearsome vs Belmondo's Cat the .. well.. uhh.. cat.

I've been in close to 100 different countries over the years....some nice, some not so nice and some that were downright hostile. Saw some beautiful sights, met some wonderful people but would still rather live in my own country at the end of the day. So that part I understand. I did almost 20 years of living in hotels for 5 to 6 nights a week. That was worse than being on extended assignments....at least with an extended event, you had a place that was sort of home. Being in a different town or city...sometimes in a different state....and even occasionally a different country was pretty crazy. Factor in working mostly nights...it is no wonder that I am a dysfunctional sleeper. I really do understand where you are coming from.

Wow that is genuinely nasty... you're right, at least here I don't need to go through the learning curve all over again, and I have a semi-permanent or long term place to park my gear and arrange it the way I like. While neither is desirable, it still seems like you did have it pretty bad.

Tell me about it. I've sneaked out of Travel & Landscapes when no one was looking, but when I try and catch up on these sort of threads, by the time I get near the end, the conversation has gone off on another tangent. ;)

John, if you can ever catch up on this thread, you will have accomplished something that no one else has ever succeeded in doing...the easiest and safest courses of action are to just jump in with both feet and play along like you know what is really happening...or perhaps even saner...run like mad and avoid the silliness...unless you have a good sense of humor and need an occasional chuckle.
Which ever you decide...you are more than welcome to join in here...fresh blood is always a treat!

because there's no guys that go around my town installing stuff.. so, they have to come up from Boise and they only do that every couple of weeks and I missed him by two days.. So, on the 23rd between 12 and 6 he'll come by and get my phone and internet turned on... until then, I'll be borrowing my neighbors which isn't exactly reliable.. wish me luck..

Besides i'm too young for the whole falling in love thing.. and a little jaded from watching my cousin's during their various divorces and break-ups and ofcourse the sham of a marriage my twin is currently involved in.
