Need some info. We're taking a trip to Japan in the Fall. What do I need to do to take my Canon equipment into and out of Japan? I read somewhere about getting a list of equipment "pre-approved", but can't remember where I saw this info.

I just went thru the Tokyo airport with a back pack of equipment. I had to run it through the x-ray. But they never gave it a second look. Unless you are bringing massive amount of equipment, Im sure it is no problem.

What you are referring to is "Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Certificate of Registration for Personal Effects Taken Abroad," CBP Form 4457.

That is not what hes is asking. There is a list that the Japanese government made that lists what you can and cant bring into the country. Basically a list of banned electronics. But as I recall 90% of consumer electronics are fine.

Good Morning!
No restrictions on photographic equipment for personal use.
Narita one of the easiest airports.' Basically, unless you are over limits on tobacco, alcohol etc... "Nothing to Declare"
