Hi Everyone
Im just in the process of building my first website, its been up and running for about a month and a half I guess, but its far from the finished article. Just wondered what you guys thought of it so far?
Am I generally going in the right direction with layout etc?
I know it needs more text, particularly on the home page and a bit of a bio on the about page and thats the next job to do on it really, just need to find the time!
any feedback will be greatfully received;)
Cheers

It's a start, but like you said, you need to finish it. You've got so nice photos though.

It's a template site, and feels it. You need to pay attention to typography and it's alignement to images.
You need to make sure your source code is clean you're mixing presentational with structural elements and linking to CSS sheets. Decide on which you want to do and stick to it.
Font is difficult to read as it's small/lacks contrast and you're using a serif which makes it even harder.
Send button doens't display properly in Opera for your contact form.
You're using tables to create a gallery, tables are for tabular data not presentation. Use layers instead (divs).
Good start, but a lot more work is needed. I've not reviewed the site fully just quick checks here and there.

I would watch out for "new images" in your news. That's not news. "New collection from my trip to the lake" or "The best catch of the day wasn't on a hook..." will get you out of the new images rut (people expect it, but are not drawn in to look by that). Otherwise, nice set up!

Thanks for all the comments, hint & tips guys, very much appreciated.
Ive taken all you've said on-board and when I get time top sit down and attack it I'll try to make the improvements you suggest.
Faolan - It is a template site and while I get what your saying I dont think I have the options to make some of the changes You mention but I'll see what I can do.
grimey121uk - the site is from Photium who are UK based and offer a 30 free trial. They have a very helpful support team too.
Thanks again guys!:D

I came across this site, http://www.jbarkwayphotography.com/, a few years ago when I was looking for ideas. I liked the "feel" and more importantly, I liked the slide show, so I implemented that into my site. BTW, it's the same company that does your site. ;)

Thanks Mike, I've had a quick look and it does look excellent. I'll have a proper look later and try to implement this on my site.
Thanks again for your help!:D
