Vivitar DF 383 stopped working

not even a week old.

i have no clue why it just stopped working. I was testing the optical slave mode. turned off slave mode.. reattached to the camera and now the flash wont fire. took flash off the camera and tried pressing the ready/test button. nothing.

when i turn it on the charging sound (which usually took 2-4 seconds) barely goes for 1 second.

i was thinking batteries but its not even a week old. i bought it at adorama in nyc. im really down about it.

anyone know whats wrong?

the batteries im using are lithium if that helps.

im just so bummed... and i cant find anything on google except for a guy with an olympus having what seems to be a similar problem for his olympus model on an amazon.com review.

i paid expedited shipping to get the rf kit here on time for a shoot tomorrow and now it looks like it wont even matter... =\

It's probably worth putting fresh batteries in just to see what happens.

3 hours later... i've calmed down

i got a hold of some new ones.. same thing..

i've read alot of positive reviews on the df-383 .... im sure i just have a defective unit or something.

my manuals and stuff were left in my brothers car. they have a 7 day exchange policy. today being the last day since saturday they are closed. he's on his way up and im gonna head to the store and try to exchange it. if not im gonna have to cut my loses on the shoot and expidited shipping and send it into vivitar
