I've just bought a G2 and am having trouble with the software. For some reason i can't install Zoombrowser 3.2EX. The 1st time i tried to install it the pc screen went black, i had to shut down my pc and start all over again ( i didn't have any screen savers on at the time). Then after that I get boxes with
"ZoombrowserEX Setup Error:UnInstaller setup failed to initialize. You may be unable to uninstall ZoombrowserEX"

What!?! but i wasn't even able to install it.

Does anyone have any clues to why this may be happening? My pc is compatible (Windows 98 2nd Ed.)

Apart from this i'm very happy with the G2.

Problem sorted. :)
Contacted Canon and found out what the problem was. Apparently, Anti-Virus software can interfere with the software installation and what did i have 'monitoring' away in the background...?? Norton!! Argh!!

I've found a great way to deal with downloading and viewing photos and it DOESN'T include ZoomBrowser. I use BreezeBrowser with my Pro90 and a card reader. I usually shoot in the Canon RAW mode.

I plug the card into the reader then preview the pictures right on the card with BreezeBrowser. Then I delete the obviously bad ones and rotate those that need it. I export the remainder to a temporary folder on the hard drive. I use BreezeBrowser to batch convert all the surviving pictures to JPGs using the "as shot" settings. I use BreezeBrowser's slide show to view the pictures...

Those that need tweaking, I re-convert the few that need white balance, saturation or sharpness fixed. Once I'm happy with the results, I move the JPGs to a unique folder where I can work on them with Photoshop.

I then move the RAW files to a folder where I save them till I have enough stored to save to a CD-ROM.

I'd suggest dumping ZoomBrowser before it ruins your life.
