Just returned from a visit to the Isle of Tiree of the west coast of Scotland. I have plenty of shots from the boat. I am wondering what sort of work I should do. This is an example of a straight from the camera and a little pushing of the blues and contrast. Am I on the right track?

Straight from the RAW .... ISO 100, F10, 1/320 sec and 18mm

Now with a little bit of work .... loaded into RAW, dropped exposure by -0.5, pusk calrity all the way up, pushed temperature to blue a fraction, and increased saturation a little.

Thanks for any help that you give me.

I really like the sky after a bit of post processing. The clouds are really dramatic and the coloring is nice. The water though... I'm a little torn. I think in the processed image the lighter blue looks a bit fake (falsely colored). Granted, I've never been to Scotland, so I don't know what the water looks like from the back of a boat! :)

I'm new to this, though, so take what I say with a grain of salt. :D

Thanks for the C&C. I am also new at this so do not worry about posting what you think. My kids think I am great and perhaps I should try to please them more than me. It may not win any prizes !!

As for the colour of the sea, most of the time in Scotland it is as the original. A sort of murky grey. However, and I was pleasantly surprised, the sea was many shades of blue, and while not like a tropical ocean blue, it was getting there. I will post many more images over the coming weeks so look out for them.

I really like the PP'ed version. What exactly did you do to it? I am completely new to all this.

It's a beautiful scene in both shots, that's for sure. I'm from California, and the ocean here takes on some really nice shades, especially when processed as well. You'd be surprised at how turquoise it is (well, I was surprised anyway, haha).

Re: pleasing your children... sometimes, I think that's the best idea!! I posted a few portraits of myself in this forum as well. I am unsure if they are any good, but my baby brother thinks they are amazing, haha! Sometimes I think we are our own harshest critic.

I'll keep an eye out for your new shots!
