View Full Version : Props to props!

I've really begun to learn and appreciate the prop blur that everyone shows in their photos. Here's a couple from this past summer that start in WWII and move into today's prop driven planes. Any C+C you have is welcome and appreciated.

Oh yeah...great set. Though, you have a bit of sensor slurm in the P-51 shot and the P-3 shot.

Thanks Robert, I appreciate the comment.
As for the sensor slurm, ya, I know, and it bugs the crap outta me. I'm actually taking it in tomorrow for a cleaning so it should be good to go from here on in. I'm also picking up a new 50D body this month which means I won't have to spend time swapping lenses on a single body like I've had to do this season.
Oh, one more thing - Canadian designation for a P-3 airframe is the CP-140 Aurora. It might be the same airframe, but the insides are vastly different. ;)

 Didn't notice the Canadian markings on the P-3.
Congrats on the 50D.

Thanks MizzouMan, it sure was fun to take that shot. :)

Dave, thanks for the comments. My fave out of the group is the Corsair - sure is a pretty bird. The last 2 were shot in some major backlight conditions which is why they're kind of dark.
Looks like you've got a grip on prop blur! Nice work.
Thanks Don, I appreciate the comment. I'm hoping to get even more later this summer as I'm doing a lot of chopper work in August.
Nice shots....

By-Tor, thanks for the kind words. I'll see if I can scrounge up a few more for you to reminisce on. Were you aircrew?

Nice job on those! Nice to see a Corsair and P51 in proper markings :p
Hope I can do half as well when we get our annual "show".

Thanks zaathrus, I appreciate the kind words. :) We're lucky to have some folks here in canada who paint them in colours under which they served under Allied flags - very fortunate.
Well done! Great shots. I'm really liking #2.
Thanks Aviation Junkie - I was wondering how long I could last behind her as they did some run ups before her departure. The power of these old radial engines is quite remarkable as I had to stop taking photos as a lightweight chopper next to me needed to be supported before it fell over from the prop wash.
I'm hoping to get some more blur this fall as the owners of the 2 warbirds above are having one of their annual open houses. Fingers crossed. :)
