You'll love the lens, good shot. I would have used MF and focused on the flame though, that's the one down side to this lens the AF isnt very good.

If you like this sort of shot try the canon angle finder for fine tuning your manual focus. It allows a greater level of viewfinder magnification, you can't go wrong.

would the angle finder be better than using live view and a tripod for getting good MF?

I agree. I always use MF when shooting with the nifty-fifty.
