Just trying to learn the ropes of my newly acquired Rebel XT when I noticed the sky from my window. It was odd since it is already way past midnight, and the colors are still orange. I think my shot is kinda blurry...

(Have to get a hang of the camera so I can take decent shots at the Pahiyas Festival this coming May 15 at Quezon Province where houses are decorated with their choicest produce, stringing fruits and vegetables together to make a kiping.) ;)

yeah. it's most likely blurry because of the monopod and a five sec shutter

100 iso should be crystal clear

Kabayan, congratulations on your new XT! How much is it in pesos? I can't wait to see your Pahiyas pictures, man I wish I were there, that festival is a natural for cameras. Post them here as soon as possible. I used to bike there a lot, my wife is from a neighboring town in Laguna. Beautiful place.

Salamat! Bought it for PhP65,000.00 with free jacket, free lesson on digital photography, 12 months to pay at 0% interest. Was bargaining to include a compact flash and camera bag, but the saleslady was adamant... hehehe!
It's the first time I'll be attending the Pahiyas Festival. All I know of the festival is what I've seen on TV and stories I heard that even if you don't know anyone from the town celebrating the festival, you can enjoy free food... ;)

Man, I love that festival. Here's a few tips. Wear comfortable shoes, you'll be doing a lot of walking. Lucban becomes a car-free zone during that time, if you have a car you'll be told to park at the outskirts and you'll have to walk in. Buy, beg, borrow or steal a couple or more 1GB CF cards. Believe me, you'll wish you had more. Get a wide angle lens, if you have a kit lens you should be fine. A tele to provide a different perspective is a great additional lens. Be ready for a lot of people. And bring your apetite, by nighttime you'll be so fill of pansit habhab. Enjoy, and be safe!

Magical, you paid 65,000pesos for the XT? ay nako!! you better get the most of the free class that came with it. actualy, its just a little over $100 the price in the states BUT at least you have the option of paying for it in increments.

good luck with your camera and i want to see your photos of the festival!

as for the photo above. you said you set it to iso100. try it at iso1600 and find an area you can use to keep your canera still.

good luck. and post more. i want to see pictures of home.

Parang sinabi mong "kaganda" ng first shot ko with the XT dahil I have to get most from the free class... hehehe! :p

I know it is a lot cheaper in the States, but I don't think it's just over $100. Surfing, I believe it goes around $600+ dollars, a little more than half the amount I paid. Considering the airfare and drop-drop ;) , pwede na...

Will using iso1600 cause the picture to be grainier?

Will using iso1600 cause the picture to be grainier?

Yes it will, but not too much. It depends on the subject. If it's like the one above then you'll probably notice the grain. If the content is a bit busier then you can get away with it a bit more.
