I'm guessing everybody knows Solomon Burke (http://www.thekingsolomonburke.com/)... Even I'd heard of him, and it's not exactly my kinda music...

For those who haven't: Wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solomon_Burke).

3 song rule, as expected. Less light then expected however.

All images here (http://www.damkot.com/images/RecentWorkOnline/090528_SoBu/index.html).

1D3. 20 through 200 with 1.4TC (I think but am not sure: It's a non reporting TC)
ISO from ISO 1600 (don't know why I even tried) till ISO 6400 (80-200 (with TC?) wide open)

The AF loved the suit... Note to self: Next time turn *off* AF point expansion in a case like this...

1) There goes the first song... No Mr. Burke..

2) Installed on his "throne". Lights were out while he was helped on stage.

3) Hard to move around (no photo pit), so guitar player in the way:

4) From the balcony:

5) Reach for the light:

6) Getting rid of his hat:

7) Quite intense:

8) Full of Soul:

In reality I shot two songs, so I didn't have time to shoot his granddaughters who were also on stage, doing backing vocals. Pity.
Even greater pity was that I couldn't shoot him distributing roses to all the women in the audience...

He's quite a charmer. And yes, a good performer as well.

Looks nice. To may taste ISO 6400 on last picture is more then enough (I suppose if there is a little more light could me much better).

looks like you did a nice job managing the fog and low magenta lights. damn he's certainly not skipped many meals.

i think i like the composition of #2 the best.

Funny you say that. That's the closest shot I've got.
It certainly is the most "engaging" because of that, but I prefer the lighting in a few others.
Also, being at a longer distance helps aesthetically, because of the "flatter" perspective ;)

Another great artist that passed away.

Fathered 21 children ... sigh. Anyway, I think a bit more LR3 noise reduction would have helped.

You give me a mac capable of running LR3, and I'll start using it ;)

PPC G5 here, not intel.

Image #7 prints quite well at A3 with a bit of additional cleaning up :)

A pity.
