View Full Version : WORLDWIDE PHOTO WEEK: Part 175 - Bricks
joayne
27th of July 2009 (Mon), 10:28
Every week we select a new theme, and then go out and shoot that theme. This week the theme is "BRICKS". As always be as imaginative/creative as you like when interpreting the theme, creativity is what we're looking for!
Here are the rules:
1. Shots need to be taken between sunrise Monday and sunset the following Sunday. Because this activity is supposed to encourage us to get out and shoot, please don't post old shots from your archives. Snap shots and art are equally welcome -- just get out & shoot, and then share!
2. Post your shots at any time during the week.
3. Post a maximum of two shots if you're uploading them to POTN (i.e., attaching them). You can post more than two if you're linking to shots that are not hosted by POTN (i.e.,embedding them), but keep within POTN rules. Also keep within POTN rules about size. A copy of the size rules can be found here: IMAGE POSTING RULES (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=194511)
An index to previous weeks can be found here: POTN WORLDWIDE PHOTO DAY INDEX (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=170603)
That's it! Have fun!

Thanks! This building is on Market Street in Kirkland. It's where all the multi-millioin dollar homes are located. This was one of the older buildings as you turn down the street.

Do you see the all-important bricks in this shot?

We have a road called Brickyard Road.
I have often passed it but have never driven on it.
Yesterday, in honor of "Bricks," I decided to check it out.
I discovered -- you guessed it --a brickyard .:)
Although the brickyard appears to be out of business, it still has lots of bricks.

Love the shots everyone has posted so far. I am in Seattle for the most uncomfortable vacation ever! What happened up here ??!! >:(
Anyhoo, it has finally cooled down some today and I have had the chance to shoot, but not PP, so hopefully tomorrow, I will get something posted up.
I am looking for some suggestions for the coming week, while loving the present posts. Keep up the good work all..
League, from what I see around town, everyone is having a bit of a freak out (me included). Love the new A/C unit put together as quickly as possible as to get some relief! :p I know only about 13% of the homes here have A/C and the temp was hitting 104 degrees!
Love your shots Dave, many different kinds of bricks from London. Torn down and used again and again. Lovely shot.
John, nice perspective and DOF
Barbara, the builders approach - Nice!
Keep 'em coming folks.
I am tethered to Starbucks for internet access, so I'll be spotty for a bit, but I will do my best.
Cheers.

lol you came here at the WRONG time Joayne. Where are you from?
i went walking in Tacoma today to shoot some bricks since it's the coolest day of the week. I hope I got a few good ones and I also hope I will have time to get them up this weekend in the thread!!

^^ I am from the DESERT.. I left it was 115, but I live in an air conditioned home with an air conditioned car and expect the heat...
Here I have NO A/C and the car A/C broke down and my camper van has no A/C.. I have not slept well for 4 nights, but I conked out last night and awoke to a temp of 61... I think I'll be OK :)
I come up at least every year for a month .. So this was unexpected.
