Hi everyone,

Got my 20D last week and noticed a few days ago that there was a spec of dirt/dust when I look through the viewfinder (the size of an AF point but practically clear) . So of course I cleaned viewfinder, lenses, coperhilled the sensor, everything I could think of and its still there. Thoughts?

Thanks

Did you clean the bottom of the focus screen?

Nope, how do you do that?

There is a matte screen with the focus points engraved just above the mirror (in normal position, not sensor clean position!). Have a look to see if you can see the speck, noting that it is in mirror image from what you see in the viewfinder. Be careful, as the screen is extremely sensitive to scratching. A light blow with blower brush or a very gentle strike with a very fine, soft brush should do the trick. If the speck is on the other side of this screen, you may need to get a pro to do it, as the screen is non removable in the 20D.
