View Full Version : Star Trails captured with Canon 1000d

hi guys two months back i bought this Canon 1000d with 18-55 IS kit lense for astrophotography.the following are the star trail images i recently made.they are around 400 shots at ISO800 and shutter speed of 20 seconds stacked together to form one image.

Pretty cool. The perspective is doing my head in a little, plus I tend to prefer trails no longer than about 20 or 30 minutes total myself, but you did a good job there. I prefer the second image.

here is a question. why stack the images and not just do a very long exposure?

you would get too much exposure on the none stars and too much noise from the CCD chip in the camera as it heats up along with camera electrical noise.
