This week's DSLR Speed Challenge #109 topic is:
"Litter"

From last week's challenge I realized there is a lot of litter out there. For this week's challenge, I want you to show me litter, or garbage that is worth showing, or tells a story... around your neighborhood, at a nearby park, in the street, or even in your house. Take a picture of what people really don't want to see, but make it worth seeing.

Your subject is limited only by your imagination and creativity.

Why, I Otter...

In the midst of storm debris both man-made and natural, an otter lurks, looking for sustenance and wary of predators...

Contest is closed to new entries..

Sorry, I forgot this was closing last night and didn't pick a winner yet. I will try to finish it up sometime today during work :) without getting caught.

That way we can get onto the next contest :)

Snap the shutter. . . or are you talking about a psychotic episode here?;)

Thanks for all the entries... A few more less than expected, it didn't make it any easier though.

Flo - Stranded Slurpee.
That certainly does tell a story - that is one lazy person there... Sure it isn't on the ground yet, but a good wind and it will be.

monty28428 - Disgust
Nice capture - there is a look of disgust in the eye, even a bit of a frown if you look at it. I like it.

tonylong - Why I Otter...
Quite a mess of debris there. I like the shot, but the otter looks a little soft - it maybe just me though. Good job.

Jason C - unwanted
Nice shot. You obviously worked hard for that picture and climbed right down on the pavement. Incredibly shallow DOF! Good job on a technically difficult shot.

fryefoto - Pulling up the bag edge does NOT increase it's capacity.
Funny shot on so many levels - we have all been there trying to put off the inevetiable trip to the dumpster. Also it is fitting to see branding from that 'other' camera company in the trash :) Thanks for making me laugh.

John_B - Baseball Litter
Beautiful. That ball cover has seen better days. Better to end its useful life in green grass than forgotten in the bottom of a bag. I love the color.

My choices for the winners this week:
3rd - Jason C
2nd - monty28428
1st - John_B

Honorable mention goes to fryefoto. For making me laugh...

Congrats to all..

Oh, this is just for fun (shot with a Nikon years ago - so it wouldn't have counted anyways). I've always liked this shot, even with the built-in flash blow out - as the white shorts and clean legs in and amongst the trash makes a nice juxtaposition.

This is Bourbon Street - New Orleans (pre-Katrina) maybe 14 years ago.

Looking forward to 110. :)

Congrats John and to all the other entrants. Monty, the bird and the implied expression was great!

I wish I'd had time to participate in this one, but work kept me busy and close to home. Maybe this week will be different.

Congrats John and great job JLatimer!!

Thanks of the 2nd place nod :-)

Well done everybody and Candy I got a good laugh at your entry as well!

Thanks Lisa -- an old shot - I always thought that bird looked disgusted with all the litter around (as he should be).
