580EX Wireless capabilities?

Is it possible with the 580EX to only fire the slave and not the master? Not keen on forking out on the seperate IR transmitter to do it!

Are you asking if you use the 580EX as the master, can you set it to fire a slave flash without the 580EX itself firing? If so, then the answer is yes.

Set 580EX to Master.
Use the LCD and turn the Master Flash to OFF
