I was on a 36 hour layover at Dulles Monday/Tuesday. I had about 5 hours to kill between the time they kicked me out of the hotel and my scheduled departure time. So, I took my merry little tail down to the Udvar-Hazy Center. This is the second time I've been, but the first time I didn't know what the heck I was doing with a digital camera. Now that I do, sorta, I snapped away.

About 30 minutes into it, I got bored with the traditional "get the whole airplane in the shot" look, so I challenged myself to find interesting parts, pieces, or lines on the various aircraft.

Here are some examples:

Really neat photos. Would make a great contest to see if you can determine the make and model of an aircraft based on the tight shots.

Good detail shots. One of a whole aircraft would have been nice, too? ;)

Like I said, I quickly got bored with those type of shots, but I did snag a few.
