I'm sure I have done something to my settings but I can't figure out what the heck it is. Normally when I use the diffused glow filter I get a soft light cast over the image.
I am trying to apply the filter now and it is making the image very dark, almost like a negative. Any ideas why?
Thanks in advance.

That is not a filter I use, but I went in and tried it on a photo. It made the soft cast as you said. Here are the settings that came up. I suppose they are default since I have never used it before. Graininess 6, Glow amount 10, clear amount 15. I hope that helps.

yep, those are the default. I am using PS CS, I'm not sure if there is a setting somehwere that I have changed along the way and forgotten about.
I haven't used this filter in about a month or so.

blah, I forgot to follow the first rule of troubleshooting technology...
Turn it off and restart it! For some reason after I restarted PS it worked fine. I wasted all that time googling for help :o
