We were in North Dakota last year around Thanksgiving. We were driving through the countryside trying to spot some deer. I saw this old abandoned country elevator and had to take a photo.

not for me.
I like your first shot, specially the light. I would perhaps situate the building a but further left in the frame, that would permit to have a better view of the horizon and give a more "nostalgic" character to your image...
still, this are comments made from the comfortable position of the viewer, your photo is nice as it is...

Humm. . . I actually don't mind the power lines in this one. I'd probably have just cropped out aa little more of the LHS space. That rusting roof is crying out for a nice close up, maybe when the shadows a are little longer.
Otherwise real nice.
