No rumours on the 5DII were accurate really. We didn't know anything until it was released.
The dude just reports the info he gives. Take it or leave it.

same goes w/ the lenses.
i am not sure why people choose to put their hope and faith into false prophets, and when they are disappointed they get upset at canon!

i think this time there will be a new Canon 70-200IS2.8 ... there are many reasons, and one reason is that Nikon also release a new improved version of their 70-200VR2.8 http://www.dpreview.com/news/0907/0907300370mm200mm.asp
I know several professional ex-Canon photographers who jumped ship to Nikon, and although they were happy with the Canon bodies, they found the Nikon lenses a bit better than the Canon ones.

+1. From what I've heard, the previous Nikon 70-200 was excellent on the crop. Add better full frame coverage and a 4 stop IS system and you have a damn fine lens. Canon definitely should fire back with an updated 70-200 f/2.8 with the new hybrid IS system and improved optics. If they sold this lens for around $500 less than Nikon they would have a real winner. It would still be expensive at $1900, but I would expect it to cost atleast that.

I never understood why people jump from Canon to Nikon (or from Nikon to Canon) because of this or the other just to take photos of batteries in a row and brick walls?? ???
Well, I hope they do bring out a 70-200 2.8L IS mark II. I want to get the current one, but I'll wait a while (can't hurt as I don't need it desperately... and I don't have the money yet).

why would canon need to fire back w/ a new 70-200 2.8 IS? have you seen the price of the nikon?
the canon 70-200 2.8 IS has been working for full frames for years...nikon finally caught w/ a much higher price tag.

You are correct about the price point and the fact that the Canon was the superior lens for full frame for some time. We'll just have to see what Canon does...

Too much time and money on there hands.
If they actually do end up releasing a new version of this lens there would be a lot of happy people buying up the old version.
