Okay, I know. It's completely blown out with halos.
But it's a keeper for me. I'll be working that building from many different angles until I find something that's striking.
I realize this stinks compared to some of the stuff we're seeing from Boston and San Francisco, but this is Peachtree City so we'll have to take what we get from this little Southern town. :)

Sorry Mike, but I literally flinched when this loaded.

Me too. It's pretty bad, but I'm also going to run it through a few artistic filters and see what happens.
But, like the backyard picture, I'll probably scrap it.

How many images did you use for this and how far apart were they bracketed? Would you post them for us?

I need to slow down and pay more attention to what I'm doing (in terms of bracketing, etc.) and making notes.
My current method is to just load 4-6 images out of the 8 or 9 I take and them play with the sliders.
The effect I'm trying to reach with these brick buildings is a children's book illustration.
This one is washed out, but I actually like the halo effect sometimes.
Like I said, I'm happy with this and am going to run it through some artistic filters this evening until it doesn't resemble anything like a photograph.
On Photofiltre there's a filter called Comic Strip that gives it a more penciled look.

Wait. I know: Chris Van Alsberg (sp?). I LOVE his illustrations. I'm almost going for that look. He illustrated (and wrote) Jumanji, and many other books. He's really good.

Mike I am trying to get the feel for the look that you are shooting for with your images.
Here's your image after some more PP.
Is this more like what you are trying to achieve or did I go the wrong way with it?

I like what you did, but the picture is bad from the start (composition). It's not a good angle of the building.
I showed up at five in the evening, and there were a ton of cars in the parking lot. I was hoping the place would be empty, so I had to take the shots I could get.
I'll go back (I have to soon because I have to start back to work there Tuesday). But also I need to go back today or tomorrow because the trees are in bloom.

To me, that picture represents everything that is bad with HDR.
No shade on you, brother, just my opinion.
