This was shot with my old Panasonic Lumix a while back. But a classic example of not paying attention to light, or in this case....Shadows LOL

It may not be the best shot but by far it's not the worst. For many people this would be considered good enough. I would agree with that also if it's just a photo to throw in an album to remember the good years. :)

Actually thats what I was thinking at the time. The shot was more for remembering my boy when he broke his first bone. Aww Just like dad LOL.

So if you shoot at noon, your camera will focus 15ft behind your subject and expose for the background??
LOL J/k I agree it isn't the best time to shoot, but IMO I think it could have been executed a little diferently

It still captures the moment, thats what true photography is about....why the camera was invented.

Ouch!! Good thing I'm not a serial killer, you might become a statistic with comments like that LOL
No but really other than using a reflector what else could have been done to fix the problem? other than shooting indoors or looking for cover(there was none besides the porch.

I think what kawter2 was trying to say is that it looks like your focus and exposure point was well behind the subjects up front. See how much more in focus and how detailed the 'shadow areas' are in the background?

Kieffer and son, welcome to the club. I did the same for my 4-year old son a week ago after he broke his first bone(s)...see "Red cast, red shirt" deeper in the forum. At least yours allowed signatures and artwork on his. Hope the arm heals quickly and completely.

When you do shoot in the bright mid-day sun I suggest that you use your flash and set it for hi-speed sync............takes away the ugly shadows and actually pops your subject out of the background. Here is a shot taken at 1:35 PM, blue skies and bright sun overhead. Used the flash to provide the fill (even though a few people probably thought I was nuts using a flash during the day!!)

Yes I absolutely agree and I appreciate bringing that up, because as embarassing as it is..I didn't even notice that until he did mention it.

Schmo...I'm still in awe from the pics of your daughter and your new lense. And I very much appreciate the knowledge you just passed along:-)
