I am an amateur. I just bought a D60. My first digital SLR. I have 2 EF series lens:

1. Canon 35-80
2. Quantaray 70-300

I've read a bit about the focal length "cropping" issues, but I don't quite understand them. What should my concerns be, and what would be the best lens to use for normal shots?

Thanks in advance!

Tom

the crop factor means that with the D60, your current lens have more reach.
ex;........50mm lens= 50x1.6 (1.6 is the crop factor for the D60) yields an 80mm lens.
your 70-300 is now a 112-480mm.

a good lens to start with if you want sharp pictures is the 50 1.8 ($70) or the 50 1.4($300).

Thanks for the reply! So if I use the 50 I got with my EOS rebel 4+ years ago - the pictures will not be as sharp?

Just wondering what best lens of what I have for now as cash flow is now limited. :)

pictures will be just as sharp.
remember though, the use of Photoshop or a couple other post processing programs are essential in achieving the best results from you digital pics.............this is the fun part, where you, not the photolab, gets to bring that pic to it's best.
the 50mm you have will be more than adequate.
