OK my sister got engaged less then a week ago and has already planned most of the wedding. She isnt getting married until june 26th of next year and already wants to do engagement shots asap. I got married 4 years ago and dont remember getting mine done this soon. She has agreed to let me take them as im am no where near professional and she will get her wedding photograher lined up to do some too especially if mine turn out horrible. But like I said she wants to do them now and doesnt have her wedding photographer hired yet so is this when your suposed to do them and how soon before the wedding do you do them? I am willing to do them whenever she wants I just want to know whats the normal time to get them done?

whats the normal time to get them done?

before the wedding!

seriously though, what are your concerns with her getting them done early on? I'd say the sooner the better, because after the wedding occurs they will be overshadowed by the photos from the actual wedding itself.

I would love it if all our clients wanted them asap. (gives us more time/flexibility to schedule them in, especially during peak wedding season)

One reason I can see a couple wanting to shoot earlier is to be able to capture lighting of a particular season or photography with seasonal flowers blooming.

They also may want to get out save-the-date cards using their photo. There is no right or wrong time.
