Hi all,

I am traveling to Thailand in under 4 weeks and want to take over very little. The only gear I want to take with me is my 40d with 17-55 2.8 attached. Apart from a spare battery and memory cards, I only need space to carry this gear. Can anyone recommend the smallest bag that would accommodate this? I basically don't want to look like I have a baby strapped to my chest everywhere I go! Your help is appreciated.

I just got a Crumpler 5mdh bag. It fits my 40D with 17-40 and has room for my 50mm lens. A very nice bag.

Domke F5XB will be a perfect choice.

I have this bag and like it when I only want one lens and a couple things like batteries and maybe my 270ex flash. Tamrac Velocity 6x.

get a small Timbuk2 or Crumpler messenger bag and put a piece of closed cell foam in the bottom. plenty of room for camera+ lens, plus pockets for battery and memory card and other odds and ends. does not scream "camera inside, steal me!"

just use a normal backpack.. make sure you have some padding under (clothes or towel). why waste more money buying a small bag.

Shoot, you may even be able to get away with the 4MDH. I have one that holds a 350D and 17-85 attached. It might hold the 40D.

The Lowepro Classified 140 was my choice for the same use. Built better than any bag I have except the ThinkTank back pack which I have. Very unobtrusive.

Since it's summer we've taken quite a few weekend trips and the Domke F2 bag has been perfect. The strap is VERY comfortable, lots of room, easy access, and very stealth.

+1. I've traveled many times with this bag and 20d+1755. Really small and convenient.
