Anyone have suggestions for studio backgrounds if one does not wish to buy a roll of seamless? I'm thinking some kind of huge cloth would be best, so it can just be bunched up and stuck in a bag for storage, since the wrinkling will just add texture to it anyway and may look nice slightly blurred from using a wide aperture. I'd like something large enough for full model shoots. Also, where would I get something large enough?

...or if you have any other suggestions..

Thanks in advance.

I'm using a 7x15 ft of the Vinyl, which is used for making banners. These are called Flex here dont know what you call it.

These are pretty cheap and work great.

Ok, ha. .. that's part of the problem. I was not aware of muslin backdrops until a few minutes ago. ( I've been googling around for a while since I posted )

From what I've found, that's exactly what i want... but I'm unsure of the size. I just want it big enough for a full shot of a model. I see B&H has a bunch too. I assume I'll need a 10x24 as opposed to 10x12? I see they have reversible also. That's perfect.

So, two things... is 10x24 the size I need, or is that overkill? Also, does $115 sound like too much for a reversible 10x24? I found a site for a DIY one, and I'll probably try that also, but I'm hoping to have one by August 8th, so I think I'll start by buying for now.

Typical sizes are 10x10 or 10x20. If you need to shoot full length then you will need 10x20 to have something under model's feet and have model away from the back ground. Typically good 10x20 will sell for more, like $300 or so. Cheaper ones are also available from amvona, backdropoutlet and others. B&H should have more.

Keep in mind those wrinkles aren't as charming as you think they might be.

Great. Thanks for all the replies. I'm sure I'll find something now with the additional info. Thanks!

I have a couple of muslins from www.amvona.com. The quality is OK, not terrific, but the price can make up for that quite easily.
