Here are a few shot from Chris and Wayne's wedding. They did not want a traditional wedding:

C&C welcome

#1 - 3 are very good, but I find #4 and 5 to be compositionally weak and not particularly compelling. While #4 tells a story, it doesn't necessarily tell one in the same vein as the event itself; and #5 doesn't really say much of anything at all for me. The first three shots are definitely the most powerful. It's not that every shot has to be a G&G shot, but clearly this is where your eye is most attuned to the photographic process and you should capitalize on that. It is when you capture the joy and intimacy of the occasion that the image truly shines, as you have done here.

Wedding photography is insanely tricky, because it's like street, event, portrait, low-light, and landscape all rolled into one, with maybe a few macros thrown in if you want to get ring shots. And then you have to deal with the social complexities of wedding etiquette, potentially psycho clients and their equally psycho relatives and guests...and too much wine...and so that's why I don't do weddings. I'd burn out.

So I'd say that you should practice developing your street and environmental portraiture skills, which will translate well to doing weddings.

Oh, and I'd suggest for #1, crop just below what appears to be a power line in the background, or clone it out. :)

I'd be. I have an Uncle Jimmy and uncle Robby, I was confused when I was little as to why I didnt have an auntie.

Which is all the more reason to explain such things simply, clearly, and unambiguously.

Gays and lesbians exist; and with respect to a desire to form a bond of commitment and mutual devotion borne of love, hope, joy, and friendship, there is no distinction between same-sex and opposite-sex relationships. As such, it is a willful act of ignorance to raise a child to believe they do not.

FWIW I don't read confusion in the child's face. In any case, children are much more perceptive and straightforward in their thinking than adults often wish to acknowledge. If they don't understand something, it's not because they are unable; it's because the adult doesn't know how to explain the concept.

#1 doesn't do anything for me. It's a nice portrait, but almost boring.
#2 and 3 are perfect! Absolutely love them.
#4 Nice shot, love the raw expression the girls face but I have to agree with everyone else-she looks very confused and it almost detracts from the rest of your images which is a major bad thing.
#5 is nice, and probably looks lovely mixed with the rest of the pictures, but to be shown/critiqued on here I think its useless. Doesn't tell much of the story, nor is it that visually compelling.

Looks like it was a lovely wedding though, great job! =)
