I have a Rebel XT and the following lenses - all canon
10-22
18-55 (kit lens, think of junking)
28-135
75-300
I was thinking about giving infrared a try so which of the following would be a good addition to my collection?
20 2.8
28 2.8
35 2.0
50 1.4
50 1.8
The main use of my camera is travel for pleasure, just got back from Peru off to Oregon next and then Easter Island and Bora Bora.

Some Canon lenses produce "hot spots" in the IR. Among them are the 20 f/2.8 and the 50 f/1.4. There's a more complete list here (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=18698&highlight=infrared+lens) along with a back-link to his source.

I user the R72 IR filter with the Canon 50 1.8 with good results on my Rebel.

Something wrong with the 10-22?? That would be a great IR lens.........well at least until you see the price of the 72mm hoya IR filter

With the in-camera IR cutoff filter, any speed advantage you can get is going to matter. f/4-f/5.6 vs. f/2.8? That's going to be 5-10 sec. exposure difference anyway.

Actually I meant to say that maybe I'll pick up the Canon Wide Angle EF 28mm f/1.8 USM from B&H.
They have it for $399 with a $15 mail in rebate

I have always stopped down with IR anyway. I try to shoot it at least f8. With the proper way to focus IR you can't use the AF(for the final shot) because you have to move it to the red line. Since this is kind of guess work I like to give myself the extra D.O.F just in case.
