Greetings-

I, as many on this forum, have been trying to optimize my Raw/Linear workflow. I noticed that Roger commented he likes what the Yarc+ ARF filter does in Raw conversions. I ran some tests - and here are two 100% crops - one using Yarc+ with ARF 2 and the other using BreezeBrowser Linear conversion. Both were taken into Photoshop and Pekka's LSD60Beta2 was used with Medium sharpening.
The shots were taken with a D60, 50mm F1.8 at F2.0 - 100asa..outside at sundown. The shots were not sharp- being the 50mm was almost wide-open. Make your own judgement.

Nice pics ;-). After studying your nose and moustache for a few minutes the winner was clear to me.
Thanks for the posting!

Ha! It was my nose and moustache! I will admit that I can see a difference in the Yarc+ ARF...and it IS better. It seems just the slightest bit clearer..more resolved.
I will admit that I did a second test on a studio still-life, and the results were not as clear. I really could not find any difference. So, it could be that Yarc+'s ARF helps on pictures with HAIR! Of course, I mean "images with areas of fine gradations of color - primarily composed of thin curved lines".

This may be the image's interaction with Pekka's Action. All variables are to be considered.

Lol. Next time I go for a hair cut I know what to say: adjust my curved lines with that fine gradation of color. Now to find an action for bald people!
