So I accidently whiped a card in my Rebel xt the other day and no biggie right I can just recover them, well i purchased stellar phoenix photo recovery but now when i connect my camera to the computer the program does not detect the camer or the card, but my image caputure boots and recognize
the camera?
Do I have to change a setting in my camera to load the memory card like a drive?
please help I lost like 2 weeks of photos from my vacation.
I am using a canon EOS Rebel xt

Virtually all recovery programs need you to use a card reader; they won't work with a card in the camera. But a card reader's faster than your camera anyhow.

A card reader will run you under $20, and save you a lot of time.

alright thanks john, I am in guatemala so its going to be a bitch to track one down. I think my cousin has a laptop with a built in card reader that would work the same right?

If it's for a Compact Flash card.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. FWIW, I buy a half dozen card readers and put them in the little nooks and crannies of my gear bags. That way if I'm ever on location and want to use someone's laptop or what-have-you, there's always a spare ready to go.
(I buy a few nice Lexar FW800 readers for permanent connection to the computers.)
