Was wondering how are they? anyone got opinions on them or any suggestions on which is a good boom arm to get at a good price? I want to be able to hold up a AB1600 with their alienbee giant softbox

I've used mine extensively and never once have I had a single problem wiht it.
I use mine to hold up my b800 and large octabox, beauty dish and large softbox.

I love mine, works great with the 800's and giant foldable softbox. Make sure you get a heavy duty stand to go with it though!!

In my experience, they bend very easily and get hard to telescope. Steel stands and booms are way stronger and last longer.

This thread (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=361906) is about the boom/stand that I got. I wouldn't use anything less for hanging a monolight/softbox out several feet from the stand.

I've got a couple of them, but to be honest, I'm just getting into this whole studio lighting setup, and I don't have experience with anything else. That said, so far these seem to work fine for me.
The stand/arm that Skip refers to in the other thread sure looks good though too....so it certainly bears looking at. I don't know how the cost compares and how much an issue that is to the OP
