I got a chance to use a friends studio (no lighting help since he is a Nikon user) and my 8 year old daughter was willing to volunteer to be my subject.

I'm not sure about the background is it too white?

excellent - except for the last one I think, which I find way too soft.

Very nice, the first one almost looks photoshopped cause the bg is so white! Next to last is amazing, those eyes, great job!

What a wonderful little model. Nice job! But I agree with the person who said the last one was too soft. Many folks like I the soft portrait look, but I'm not a fan.

You certainly had some creative ideas here!

These are great. No the BG is not too white. I like the last. If it was in a separate post it would receive lots of praise. When posted with the others it looks softer than it really is.

Thank you everyone for all the generous comments. and my little model poses herself, all I do is tell her to change her pose, she is nothing like her mommy she is just a natural at this. She is a perfect Photographer's daughter

These are beautiful. The last one though is a bit soft as mentioned. I don't know much about studio lighting but the 3rd one looks hot on the left side in comparison to the right side. Your daughter is gorgeous. Love the shots!

These are awesome....

So what caused the catchlights from camera left? Window? I'm very impressed if your only light source was your on camera flash...WOW

Yes there was a window in the left side but we had the blinds closed I did bounce the flash from all angles from the side, back, top etc to see what worked best

thank you for the comment

You did a great job for what you had to work with...How did you get that BG so white?

From editing, it was pretty white to begin with but it had some wrinkles from the backdrop that I had to clean up

Sorry so many questions...I'm trying to experiment with using White BG's, but I don't have the strobes yet to make it pop..
