I have an i960 Photo Printer that works very well and was wondering if the upgrade to the newer 8500 or 5000 warrants the move? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Not really. I'd stay with the i960 till it dies. The only step up is to the 8500 with the added two inks, which do a fabulous job with greens and reds. But, I tried this image yesterday

on the i960 and i9900 (which has same print head as the 8500) and the i960 HELD ITS OWN. If I were you, I'd wait for the i9900 to be discontinued, then buy one cheap. you get the 8500's print head, same 8-ink set, BUT THE ABILITY TO PRINT 11x17 or 13x19. Nothing prettier than deep discount Ilford Smooth Pearl Paper from Costco or Comp USA done at these sizes!
